Had a wonderful lunch whilst sitting with Lana while she shelled peas for the evening meal. The Saffron pie was scrumptious!

Sunday lunch at the Swan, roast beef, potatoes and yorkshire pudding, perfect atmosphere, incredible food, welcoming staff, log fire with a nice cold drink, what else is there to do on a sunday? Sundays just got exciting.

Every now and again, you find a place that embodies the spirit of what a country restaurant should be about. The dream is to find a combination of excellence across food, service, ambience and high quality local produce. The Swan at Southrop has this. There is nowhere that my family and I would rather dine in the world.

Last weekend I ate twice at this beacon of excellence. Recommended by my B&B host, it was a revelation. Sebastian and Lana have created one of the loveliest, most honest, delicious and welcoming restaurants in all England. Quite the best steak, kidney and mushroom pie, best roast pork and crackling and best fruit crumble I have eaten - ever! The staff were young and brilliant and couldn't do enough. Many congratulations to this little piece of country heaven.
